| When
you're ready to sell your home put on your 'best face'. CLEAN
is the most important word in your selling prep vocabulary. UNCLUTTERED
is the second. Of course you'll be a little inconvenienced by keeping your home
looking 'beautiful' but making a good impression will be worth it. Do whatever
it takes to SELL! Here are some specific tips for getting ready for the market:
Remove clutter from
all counter-tops, closets, cabinets, garages and storage areas.
Remove clutter from your yard - no flamingos or windmills!
Cut the grass to a moderate height. Plant flowers and add fresh mulch.
Fill driveway cracks and resurface.
Polish those brass doorknobs - especially on your front door.
Pressure wash any exterior wood trim; repair and paint any rotted wood.
Remove all personal photographs, rock-star posters and trophies.
Deep clean every corner of your house - especially bathroom and kitchen fixtures,
appliances and around electric switch plates.
Paint all walls in a neutral off-white color.
Wash all window panes inside and out. Clean window frames. Loosen/repair any stuck
windows.
Clean thoroughly and polish all hardwood floors.
Clean all light fixtures.
Change all light bulbs to 100 watts (where possible) to increase the light in
your home.
Put air-fresheners in place throughout your house.
Get rid of any evidence of pets - especially odors.
Get rid of the pet temporarily - when prospective buyers come calling board that
barking dog or nose-tickling cat.
Change your furnace filter.
